Pune, 21st March 2022: After the formation of cyclone ‘Asani’ in the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted cloudy weather and light rains in many parts of Maharashtra.

The low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining the south of the Andaman Sea is moving northwards along and off Andaman and Nicobar islands and is intensified. It is likely to transform into cyclone Asani on March 21. As a result, there will be heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of the country. Under the influence of this condition, Maharashtra is also experiencing cloudy weather, but the cyclone will not have much effect on the state, said officials from the IMD.

On Sunday, 20th March the heatwave continued in Vidarbha, Marathwada. However, in the next two days, the maximum temperature is expected to drop by 2 to 3 degrees throughout the day.

The IMD also predicted light rains in Konkan, western Maharashtra and scattered places in Vidarbha. Partly cloudy weather is forming in many areas. However, the cyclone will not have a major impact on the state.
