Maharashtra’s Vaishnavi Adkar and Ira Shah won Guwahati Super Series

Pune, July, 20, 2018: Vaishnavi Adkar and Ira Shah of Pune won titles in under 14 and 12 years category, respectively at recently concluded Super Series Tennis Tournament held in Guwahati. The tournament was organized by All India Tennis Association (AITS) and Assam Tennis Association (ATA) in Guwahati, where players from all over the country were enrolled

under

14 and 12 years of age.

Vaishnavi defeated Shruti Ahlawat of Haryana 6-3, 6-0 in the semifinals and in the final, she defeated Pari Singh of Maharashtra 6-4, 6-1. This is Vaishnavi’s another major title after recent National Series at Panchgani. Also in the under-12 category, Ira defeated Karnataka’s Soha Singh 7-5, 7-5 in the semifinals, while in the final defeated Ridhi Poka Chaudhary of Telangana 6-2, 7-5 in a hard fought match and won her first ever Major title.

At present, Vaishnavi is in class 8th at Abhinav English Medium School in Erandwane. She practises at Bounce Tennis Academy under the guidance of Kedar Shah. Ira Shah is studying in 6th at St. Mary’s School and is practicing under the guidance of Ketan Dhumal.
