Mahavikas Aghadi Candidate Rahul Kalate Alleges Money Distribution by BJP Amid Elections in Pimpri Chinchwad

Chinchwad, 20th November 2024: Official candidate of Mahavikas Aghadi, Rahul Kalate, representing the Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP) and contesting from the Chinchwad constituency in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, has alleged that the opposition alliance is distributing money to sway voters. However, Pimpri Chinchwad Police have stated that no such activity has been found.

Rahul Kalate specifically named former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator Tanaji Barana, accusing him and his activists of distributing money in the Thergaon area, which falls within the Chinchwad constituency and the jurisdiction of Kalewadi Police Station. Kalewadi Police, however, denied any such incident.

Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Bahirat, in charge of Kalewadi Police Station, told Punekar News, “We received a call about an hour ago. However, our team responded swiftly, and we could not find anything. We are patrolling to ensure that no such activities take place. Additionally, voting is proceeding peacefully within our police station’s limits.”
