Mahayuti to Contest Municipal Elections Unitedly: CM Devendra Fadnavis

Pune, 15th May 2025: In a significant political development ahead of the upcoming municipal corporation elections in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed that the Mahayuti alliance will contest the elections together. He noted that while there may be isolated exceptions where alliance partners contest separately, they will maintain mutual respect and avoid internal criticism, focusing instead on positive campaigning.
Fadnavis, currently on a tour of Pune, made these remarks during a conference at YASHADA, which was attended by municipal commissioners and chief officers from across the state. Responding to media questions, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of alliance unity.
“We are committed to contesting the municipal elections as Mahayuti. All three alliance partners are united. In some exceptional constituencies, we may fight separately, but we will not criticize each other. Our campaign will remain focused and positive. Wherever possible, we will contest together,” he said.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s ongoing administrative reforms, stressing the state’s commitment to institutionalized governance. He noted that a similar workshop was recently conducted with district collectors and now with municipal officers to improve administrative efficiency and public service delivery.
On Election Preparations and Supreme Court Directives
Addressing queries regarding the Supreme Court’s directions concerning timely elections, Fadnavis assured that the State Election Commission had already initiated preparations.
“We are fully committed to conducting the elections on time and will support all efforts to make that happen,” he affirmed.
Support for ‘Boycott Turkey’ Movement
Fadnavis also expressed strong support for the ongoing ‘Boycott Turkey’ movement, triggered by Turkey’s alleged support for Pakistan. He commended Indian citizens and traders participating in the boycott, particularly referencing a Pune-based trader who reportedly received threats from Pakistani elements after voicing support.
“I appreciate everyone who has chosen to boycott. Our national interest must always come first. Any nation supporting anti-humanitarian activities must be held accountable. The recent terror attack in Pahalgam was an attack on humanity. The New York Times has published satellite images from Operation Sindoor, exposing Pakistan’s role. I stand with every trader and citizen who prioritizes the nation,” Fadnavis stated.
