Major action of UP ATS in search of suspected Rohingya Muslims, link to terror funding being investigated

Lucknow, January 6, 2021: The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Uttar Pradesh today took major action in search of Rohingya Muslims. In the morning, search for suspects was held in several districts including Khalilabad, Basti and Aligarh, located in Santkabirnagar. Half a dozen suspects have been apprehended. It is being said that in this action, ATS is also looking for a network of Terror funding in UP. UP ATS can make a big deal in this case by evening.

UP ATS has detained JE Abdul Mannan posted in Khalilabad block of Santakbir Nagar district. Apart from this, more than half a dozen suspects have been detained by the ATS team. According to information received from intelligence agency sources, all of them have been found to have fake documents and allegations of terror funding. At present, UP ATS is also said to be investigating the entire case.

The ATS team has arrested Abdul Mannan, a technical assistant stationed in Khalilabad block from Mohdinpur village of Khalilabad Kotwali and three of his associates from Motinagar locality. Mannan is accused of making fake passports. Three others are said to be Rohingya Muslims. Police sources say that a case has been registered in Lucknow for fake passports. The ATS is investigating this. Investigations have revealed transactions of about Rs 1.5 crore from the bank account of the technical assistant.

On 29th December, ATS investigating the terror funding, and exposure to anti-national elements, the firm including Naeem & Sons Mobile Shop, located at Baldev Plaza, Golghar in Gorakhpur Two shops were raided. After an investigation and questioning that lasted for more than eight hours, the team captured the hard disk and other documents from the computer installed in the shop. In 2018 too, the ATS team was raided here.

ATS on 24 March 2018 arrested Naeem, Ahmed and Arshad, sons of Naeem, on suspicion of terrorism funding, hawala business and exposure to anti-national elements. Was taken into custody. More than Rs 50 lakh cash was recovered from the firm’s three establishments and captured computers, hard disks, pen drives and other documents from the three establishments. Apart from this, three other people were arrested from Khorabar and Shahpur area.
