New Delhi, 2nd January 2024: In a significant move to implement provisions outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, CBSE has announced several changes in pedagogy, the CBSE curriculum, and the examination process. As part of these changes, no overall divisions, distinctions, or aggregate scores will be awarded to students taking the 10th and 12th CBSE exams in 2024.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had previously announced that board exams would be conducted twice a year, allowing students to choose and retain their best scores from both attempts. Additionally, CBSE has confirmed through its notification that pre-exam psychology counseling for parents and students will commence from the 1st of January 2024. This initiative, ongoing since 1998, primarily equips parents and students to cope with exam-related stress.

CBSE had earlier released the practical and theory exam timetables on January 1st and February 16th, respectively, aligning with these dates for the psychological counseling sessions. As part of this outreach program, CBSE has introduced the IVRS facility on the toll-free number 1800 11 8004. Students, parents, and stakeholders can access pre-recorded valuable information on tackling board exams, including tips for better preparation, time and stress management, FAQs, and live tele-counseling services. This year, a total of 65 principals, trained counselors, special educators from CBSE schools, and psychologists are providing this service.
