9 Foreign Students Clear Pune University’s PhD Entrance Exam

Pune, 4th January 2024: Nine foreign students from eight different countries have successfully cleared Savitribai Phule Pune University’s PhD Entrance test. The examination was conducted to admit international students into various PhD courses offered by the University’s department and affiliated colleges. The countries represented by these successful candidates are Afghanistan, South Africa, Iraq, Iran, Mauritius, Australia, Taiwan, and Turkey.

A total of 13 students from these eight countries participated in the online entrance exam held on December 22, 2023. The exam was organized by SPPU’s International Centre.

Prof. Dr. Vijay Khare, the Director of the International Centre, mentioned that since 2015, the International Centre has been facilitating an online procedure for enrolling foreign students in PhD courses. To encourage more international students to pursue PhD courses, this entrance exam is conducted three times a year. He also shared that currently, 114 foreign students from approximately 20 countries are in the process of completing their PhD from various departments of the University and colleges affiliated with SPPU.
