Major Drug Bust In Pune: Teenager Among 3 Arrested With One KG of MD Worth Over Rs 2 Crore

Kharadi, 30th April 2023: In a major breakthrough, the Pune Crime Branch seized 1 kg 108 gm of Mephedrone (MD) worth Rs 2.21 Crore from two inter-state drug traffickers.

The accused have been identified as Azad Sherjaman Khan, a 35-year-old resident of Pimpalkhedi in District Ratlam of Madhya Pradesh, a minor boy aged 16, and Nageshwar Rameshwar Prajapati, a 35-year-old resident of the same district.

The accused were caught last night with one kg 108 gm of MD drug, worth two crore twenty one lakh sixty thousand rupees. Two accused had allegedly taken the drug in a travel bus from Ratlam to Kharadi Bus Stop, where they were met by Prajapati.

Acting on a tip-off received by policemen Manoj Kumar Salunkhe and Maruti Pardhi, the Anti-Narcotics Squad-1, Crime Branch, Pune, laid a trap near Kharadi Chowk to Rakshak Nagar, Snehdeep Society, and apprehended the accused with the contraband.

In addition to the drugs, the police also recovered four mobile phones, cash amounting to Rs. 1,000/-, one red-colored sack bag, and a travel ticket worth Rs. 500/- from the possession of the accused. The Chandannagar Police Station has registered a case against the accused under the NDPS Act Section 8(c), 22(c), 29. Further investigation is being conducted by Laxman Dhengle, Inspector of Police, Anti-Narcotics Squad-1.

The Pune City Police Commissioner Retesh Kumar and Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik had instructed the Crime Branch to carry out a special campaign to curb drug trafficking in the city.

The successful operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ramnath Pokle, and the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Amol Zende and ACP Sunil Pawar.

The investigation team included Senior Police Inspector Vinayak Gaikwad, Assitant Police Inspector Laxman Dhengle, and policemen Manoj Kumar Salunke, Maruti Pardhi, Pandurang Pawar, Vishal Dalvi, Rahul Joshi, Vishal Shinde, Yogesh Mohite and Sandesh Kakade.
