Major Drug Bust on Pune-Mumbai Highway: Mephedrone Worth Rs 5,40,000 Seized, One in Custody

Dehu Road, 20th February 2024: The anti-narcotics cell of Pimpri-Chinchwad took a person into custody on the old Pune-Mumbai highway and confiscated approximately mephedrone drugs worth Rs 5 Lakh 40 thousand from him. The individual apprehended in connection with this case is Shahzad Alam Abbas Qureshi, aged 38. Upon investigation, it was disclosed that Rizwan Chandiwala had transported the Mephedrone drugs from Mumbai.

Following the footsteps of Pune city, the Pimpri-Chinchwad police have cracked down on drug smuggling, resulting in the seizure of valuables worth a total of 16 lakhs, including a high-value four-wheeler valued at 10 lakhs, from the accused. Acting on information received, the anti-narcotics cell took action against an unidentified individual who was allegedly transporting mephedrone on the old Pune-Mumbai highway within the jurisdiction of the Pimpri-Chinchwad police station.

A case has been registered in this regard at the Dehu Road Police Station by the Anti-Narcotics Cell.
