Major iPhone Smuggling Bust at Delhi Airport

Delhi, 22nd April 2024: In a significant operation, customs officials at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi have intercepted a large consignment of iPhones valued at Rs. 32.61 lakhs. The devices, totaling 36 iPhones, were cleverly concealed inside boxes typically used for liquor. The seizure was made from two Indian nationals who had just arrived from Hong Kong.

The enforcement action was taken under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962. This development comes as a result of targeted profiling and surveillance by customs authorities at the airport. The intercepted iPhones were intended for illicit import into the country, disguised within the packaging of alcoholic beverages.
