Man Arrested in Pimpri-Chinchwad for Harassing Women Via Obscene Video Calls

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 2nd June 2021: A man was arrested on Sunday in Pimpri-Chinchwad for harassing multiple women through obscene video calls and lewd messages. The incident came to light after one of the victims filed an FIR at Wakad police station.

Police have arrested Sampat Ram, a resident of Baner in Pune, who is originally from Jodhpur in Rajasthan. A total of six mobile sim cards have been seized from him.

The arrested culprit used to run a tea stall. Nearby labourers used to keep their mobile phones at his tea stall for charging. After they left, the arrested accused would take the mobile sim cards of these labourers in his mobile. It was also discovered that he used to work at a furniture shop earlier. He took the phone numbers of customers from there as well.

He used to video call women using these mobile numbers and created indecent scenes. Police said that he has troubled multiple women by doing this.

Police have appealed to the women to come forward and lodge a complaint at Wakad police station if they have faced similar harassment.
