Man in Live-in Relationship Found Dead in Pune, Family Suspects Foul Play

Sahakar Nagar, 7th February 2025: A 28-year-old man in a live-in relationship was found dead in Pune’s Sahakar Nagar area, prompting police to register a case against three individuals, including a woman and a minor. The incident, which occurred late Wednesday night, has raised suspicions of foul play among the deceased’s relatives.
Sunny Ramesh Athawale was discovered hanging in an apartment near Priyadarshini School in Dhankawadi. His relative, Kundan Baburao Athawale, has filed a complaint at Sahakar Nagar Police Station, expressing doubts about the circumstances surrounding Sunny’s death.
According to the complainant, Sunny had been living with a woman for the past year, but the couple frequently had conflicts. Kundan Athawale also alleged that the woman’s relatives had been threatening Sunny.
The situation came to light when the woman called Kundan late Wednesday night, informing him about Sunny’s apparent suicide. Initially sceptical, Kundan verified the information through one of Sunny’s friends before rushing to Pune.
Upon arrival, Kundan raised concerns about the nature of Sunny’s death, urging the police to investigate whether it was a suicide or a potential homicide. In response to the allegations, Sahakar Nagar Police have registered a case against three individuals, including the woman Sunny was living with and a minor.
