Man kills wife & son; commits suicide
Pune, October 27 : The saga of gruesome crime continues in Pune, with a man killing his wife and son before committing suicide on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Raju Gaikwad, his wife Arti and their son Vishal (19), who was mentally retarded.
The incident took place on Tuesday around 3 am at Anjanitai Nimhan chawl in Nimhanmala in Pashan area of Pune.
As per FIR lodged by Anand Naik (35), the step brother of Arti, Raju was an alcoholic and did not work. Arti worked as maid. He used to suspect her character and used often quarrel with her. Their son was mentally retarded, while a 14-daughter studies in class eighth. She had gone to a relative’s house, thus survived.
According to police, Raju killed Arti by hitting her on head with an axe and then strangulated their helpless son. After that he hanged self in the room.
The incident came to light in the morning when neighbors observed that Gaikwad family has not come out of their room. They informed their relatives and also the police.
A case of murder has been registered with Chatushrungi police station.
Earlier on October 11, Deepti Tejas More, a 35- year-old techie ended her life by jumping from the terrace of her building at Manikbaug, Sinhagad Road. Before committing suicide, she also killed her five-year- old son. Cops found a suicide note in the house, in which the woman stated that she took the drastic step because ‘expectations from life had remained unfulfilled’.
On October 9, Ramu Chavan (60), a watchman, had beheaded his 55-year-old wife because he suspected her of infidelity. He was nabbed while on a street in Katraj area with the severed head of his wife, whom he allegedly beheaded with an axe.
