Maratha reservation : Complete shutdown in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad
Pune/Pimpri – In view of the Maharashtra bandh call by the Maratha organisations over reservation issue, there is complete shutdown in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. Except medical stores, all shops are closed.
The state transport (ST) and Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) buses are not running on the roads. The bus stands are completely deserted.
Keeping in view the violence committed during the Maratha morcha on July 30, the administration has decided to stop the bus service.
The Maratha organisations are holding a sit-in protest outside the District Collector’s office from 11 am today. Apart from this, the protesters will also be on the roads demanding reservations for various places. A large number of police forces have been deployed in the city. The police has also appealed to people not to pay attention to rumors.
Meanwhile, Pune Police Commissioner K Venkatesham has appealed citizens to continue with their schedule. There are 7,000 police personnel deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
