Mary Ann and Abhijeet Gupta the best player of the tournament at MCL 2016

Pune, 15 June 2016: Mary Ann Gomes and Abhijeet Gupta were awarded with the title of Best Players of the tournament Male and Female respectively during the Prize Distribution Ceremony of the 4^th Maharashtra Chess League today. This year Bhaskaran Adhiban of Pune Sangli Navigators defeated Sunilduth Narayanan of  Jalgaon Battlers in the Finals to win the league. The 1^st runner up was Jalagaon Battlers while Pune TruMasters become the 2^nd runner up during MCL 2016. The players and teams were awarded at the hands of Aniruddha Deshpande, Chairman, Organising Committee, MCL. Dignitaries like NIranjan Godbole, Treasurer, PDCC, Vijay Bhave, President, PYC Hindu Gymkhana, Ravindra Chavhan, AGM, Planning, Bank of Maharashtra were also present on this occasion.

Mary Ann and Abhijeet Gupta were awarded with a trophy and a cash prize of 10,000 each. While the winning team – Pune Sangli Navigators was bestowed with a trophy and cash prize of 3 lakhs. The runner up team of Jalagon Battlers was awarded with a cash prize of 1.75 lakhs and a trophy and team of Pune TruMasters was bestowed with a trophy. The award for Best Dug Out Design was announced to RBS Ahmednagar Checkers and were awarded with a trophy for the same.
