Pune police inspector provided revolver for Dabholkar murder – CBI

Pune – Investigations by the Central Bureau of Investigation ( CBI) has revealed that a serving police inspector of Pune police had given the revolver to be used for killing Dr Narendra Dabholkar, who was fighting deep rooted superstitions in the society.

CBI officials said that the inspector had given the weapon to arrested accused Dr Virendra Tawde, a member of Hindu Janjagruti Samiti (HJS) an offshoot of Sanatan Sanstha.

Tawde was arrested last week and has been described by CBI has the conspirator and mastermind behind the murder.

According to CBI, the police inspector had provided two revolvers which Tawde wanted to replicate and manufacture more such weapons. He also wanted to raise a 15,000 members Army. But these plans could not be executed. Later one of the weapon was used to kill Dabholkar on the August 20,2013, when he was on morning walk on the bridge between Omkareshwar Temple and Balgandharv auditorium.

Today afternoon CBI will again produced Tawde before a Pune court seeking extension of his custody.
