Pune, 17th December 2025: Punit Balan Cricket Academy produced a commanding all-round performance to register an emphatic 89-run victory over Kapil Sons in the MCA Men’s Corporate Shield Tournament 2025–26. The match was played at Nehru Stadium, Swargate.

Reacting to the win, Punit Balan, owner of Punit Balan Cricket Academy, said, “I am extremely happy with Punit Balan Cricket Academy’s emphatic win in the MCA Men’s Corporate Shield Tournament. Every player contributed and the team displayed excellent teamwork. I believe the team will continue this consistency and shine across different competitions. Heartiest congratulations.”

After winning the toss, Punit Balan Cricket Academy opted to bat and posted a formidable 404 for 7 in their allotted 50 overs, built around two superb centuries from Pawan Shah and Sachin Dhas.

Openers Harsh Mogaveera and Pawan Shah gave the innings a solid start, adding 55 runs for the first wicket, with Mogaveera contributing 30. Shah then anchored the innings with a crucial 151-run second-wicket partnership alongside Sachin Dhas.

Pawan Shah scored a well-crafted 101 off 101 balls, including 11 fours, while Sachin Dhas followed it up with a fluent 101 off 95 deliveries, striking nine fours and two sixes. In the final overs, Siddharth Mhatre provided the finishing touches with a brisk 50 off 34 balls, helping the Academy breach the 400-run mark.

In reply, Kapil Sons began positively but failed to sustain momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals. Siddhesh Veer top-scored with 51 off 38 balls, while Neeraj Joshi and Anurag Kawade added fighting half-centuries of 50 each.

Despite their efforts, the required run rate proved too steep, and Kapil Sons were bowled out for 315 in 44.5 overs. During the innings, Anurag Kawade also reached the milestone of 1,500 career runs.

The match was officiated by Akshay Pawar, Mahesh Sawant, and Navin Mane.
