MDH Spices Owner Mahashay Dharampal Gulati Passes Away

New Delhi, December 3, 2020: The owner of MDH spices, Mahashay Dharampal Gulati, popularly known as Masala King, died this morning. He was 98 years old. Dharampal Gulati breathed his last at 6 am on December 3 at Mata Chanan Devi Hospital in Delhi.

He was born on 27 March 1923 in Sialkot, now in Pakistan, and it was from here that the foundation of his spice business was laid. His father was Mahashay Chunni Lal Gulati, the founder of Mahashian Di Hatti (MDH). The company started with a small shop in the city, which his father started before partition. However, at the time of partition of the country in 1947, his family shifted to Delhi.

Last year, President Ram Nath Kovind conferred Padma Vibhushan to Mahashay Dharampal for his contribution in business and food processing.
