The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has commenced the construction of the Ring Road in two phases: East and West. The Eastern Ring Road covers a distance of 71.35 km, while the Western Ring Road extends for 65.45 km. Land acquisition for the western section of the ring road is nearly 80 % complete. To expedite the project, the work has been divided into five phases or packages.

The deadline for tender submissions was April 16, which has recently passed. In response, twelve companies, including both Indian and foreign firms, have submitted tenders for the Ring Road project.
