Metal Framework of Pune Metro Pillar Collapses Near Chinchwad Railway Station, Damages Vehicles
Pimpri-Chinchwad, 13thMay 2025: A steel framework erected for a Metro pillar unexpectedly collapsed late Monday night near Chinchwad Railway Station, reportedly causing damage to multiple vehicles. The incident occurred around 11 PM.
The framework, constructed as part of ongoing Metro pillar installation work, suddenly gave way and fell onto the grade separator, creating a loud noise that alarmed nearby residents. Eyewitnesses claim that the collapsing structure landed on vehicles passing through the separator at the time.
Preliminary reports suggest that three to four cars sustained damage in the incident. Some affected vehicle owners have approached Pimpri Police to file official complaints regarding the damages.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse, while questions are being raised about the safety protocols followed during the Metro construction work.
