Military Engineering Services Project Used in Rs 1.12-Crore Pune Investment Fraud, Three Booked
Camp, 18th September 2026: Pune Police have registered a case against three people for allegedly cheating a real-estate businessman of ₹1.12 crore after inducing him to invest in a purported Military Engineering Services construction project.
The FIR, registered at Lashkar Police Station on September 11, names Sanjiv Shorilal Mahajan, Aarti Sanjiv Mahajan and Nikhil Karunakar Shetty. The accused have been booked under Sections 3(5), 316(2), 318(4), 351(2) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, covering alleged joint liability, criminal breach of trust, cheating, criminal intimidation and intentional insult.
According to the complaint, the accused approached him in 2021 with an investment proposal connected to an alleged construction contract at the Southern Command in Pune. The complainant alleged that he was shown false work orders and project-related documents and was promised substantial monthly returns and an equal share in the profits.
The complainant claimed that he transferred and paid a total of ₹1,39,15,851 to the accused between July 2021 and August 2025. Of this amount, ₹27,15,851 was allegedly returned, leaving ₹1.12 crore outstanding.
The complainant alleged that the promised payments stopped in September 2025. When he repeatedly sought the return of his money, the accused initially claimed that the construction work had been halted because of a defence audit, the FIR stated.
The complaint further alleged that during a meeting at an office on MG Road in Pune Camp on May 29, 2026, the complainant was threatened with being killed through underworld contacts and implicated in a false police case if he continued demanding repayment.
Police have initiated an investigation into the alleged financial transactions, project documents and threats.
