Mini Olympics To Be Organised In Pune From 2nd January

Pune, 20th December 2022: Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao asserted that on the occasion of the Mini Olympics being organized in Pune in association with Maharashtra Government and Maharashtra Olympic Association, there is an opportunity to bring Pune’s sports glory and recognition in the field of sports to the national level.

 

He was speaking at a meeting held at Vidhan Bhavan for the preparation of the Maharashtra Olympic Games. Sports Commissioner Suhas Diwase, Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, Maharashtra State Olympic Association Secretary Namdev Shirgaonkar, Deputy Commissioner Naina Bodarde, Deputy Collector Amrit Natekar, and Deputy Director Dr Purushottam Patodkar were present.

 

Rao said, “Hosting the Maharashtra Olympics is a matter of pride for Pune. After two decades, such an organization is being held in Pune. Along with this, G20 meetings and ATP tennis tournament are also being organized at the beginning of the new year. Therefore, branding of Pune should also be done along with preparing well for organizing the competition. Students of schools and colleges should also be involved in the planning as they have the opportunity to see good sports skills.”

 

Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao has given instructions to ensure that there is no inconvenience to the players.
Sports Commissioner Suhas Diwase said, “Maharashtra State Olympic Games are being held in Pune from 2nd to 12th January 2023. Transport should be properly planned for the competition. For this, 39 sports are included in this competition and more than nine thousand athletes will participate. The aim behind this project is to create a sports environment in the state, to encourage sports, to give the players an opportunity to show their skills.”

 

Shirgaonkar said, “Maharashtra Olympic sports competitions have been organized for the purpose of raising the performance of the state in national competitions. These sports events will create a favorable environment for sports in the state. These sports events will make Pune known as the home of sports.”

 

Collector Dr Deshmukh said that the Maharashtra Olympic sports competition is important for the district and the state and necessary cooperation will be provided by the administration for the competition.

 

On this occasion, various matters related to the organization of the sports competition were reviewed. Commissioner Rao gave instructions to the concerned to provide proper facilities to the players and coaches. Senior officers of various departments were present in the meeting.
