Minor’s Reckless Driving Leaves Two Seriously Injured on Atal Bihari Vajpayee Flyover in Pune

Pune, 1st February 2024: In an incident on January 30 at approximately 3:15 PM, a 17-year-old minor, permitted by his father, drove a luxury car at high speed, resulting in a collision on the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Flyover on Shankar Sheth Road. The minor lost control of the vehicle, striking a motorcycle carrying two individuals and causing serious injuries. The case has been registered at Khadak Police Station, and the accused businessman, Padmakar Oswal, is facing charges of negligence and carelessness.

The complainant, Police Constable Hemant Maruti Kumbhar, has provided details of the incident. The victims, Israr Kamaluddin Sange and Wahab Khatib were on a motorcycle, travelling from Swargate to the Camp area via the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Flyover when the speeding four-wheeler, driven by the minor, collided with them. Both individuals sustained serious injuries in the accident.

Padmakar Oswal, the father of the minor, has been named as the accused in the case. The prosecution contends that despite being aware of his son’s minor status, Oswal allowed him to drive the luxury car, demonstrating negligence and carelessness. The minor lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the collision with the motorcycle.

Assistant Police Inspector Naik is overseeing the ongoing investigation into the incident.
