Missing Teen Couple Found Dead by Suicide Near Khadakwasla Dam in Pune
Khadakwasla, 11th July 2025: In a tragic incident, a 16-year-old girl, Akshara Gursale, and a young man, Santosh Balasaheb Kalsait, were found dead near Khadakwasla Dam after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance. The case, which has sent shockwaves through Pune district, is currently under investigation by Wanowrie Police Station.
The sequence of events began on Thursday night when Apurva Gursale, a resident of Mahadev Nagar, Manjri, reported her sister Akshara missing. Akshara had been dropped off at the Physics Wallah (PW) class at 93 Avenue Chowk but did not return home after class. Despite searching the class premises and surrounding areas, her family was unable to locate her. Suspecting abduction, they approached the police around 10:00 PM to file a complaint.
During the investigation, police identified Santosh Kalsait, a resident of Mahadev Nagar, Manjri, and originally from Ahilyanagar, as a key suspect. Attempts to contact him after 5:30 PM were unsuccessful, as his phone was switched off. Akshara did not own a mobile phone. Police also contacted Santosh’s relatives and local village authorities but were unable to trace his whereabouts.
Starting early Friday morning, Police Sub-Inspector Londhe and his team searched Mahadev Nagar and nearby areas, coordinating with Santosh’s friends and family. Later, Uttam Nagar Police Station informed Wanowrie Police that both Akshara and Santosh had been found dead near Khadakwasla Dam, apparently having died by suicide after ingesting poison.
Preliminary information suggests the two had been in a relationship for the past two to three months, which was known to Akshara’s family, though they opposed it. The investigation is ongoing to uncover the complete details surrounding the incident.
Senior Police Inspector Satyajit Adamane of Wanowrie Police Station confirmed the facts and stated that all necessary legal procedures are being followed as the investigation continues.
