Mission Swachh Ward 25 Continues Uninterrupted Despite Election Season in Pune
Pune, 9th January 2026: Despite the ongoing election season, cleanliness work continues uninterrupted under ‘Mission Swachh Ward 25’ in the Mahatma Phule Mandai area of Shaniwar Peth, Ward No. 25. The initiative is being implemented under the guidance of MLA Hemant Rasane as part of the broader Clean, Beautiful and Developed Kasba campaign, said Raghavendra ‘Bappu’ Mankar.
Keeping in mind the sanitation needs of the ward, Mission Swachh Ward 25 has been reviewed regularly by Bappu Mankar even amid intense election campaigning. He took stock of cleanliness-related complaints received from citizens, the time taken to resolve them, and the overall functioning of the initiative. Mankar also enquired about the health and well-being of sanitation workers engaged in the drive.
The campaign has continued even after the announcement of elections, while strictly adhering to the Election Commission’s code of conduct. According to organisers, the focus has remained on ensuring that basic civic services are not disrupted during the poll period.
Local residents have welcomed the initiative and expressed satisfaction over its consistency. “We thought the cleanliness drive would stop once elections were announced. However, Mission Swachh Ward 25 has carried out cleaning activities in our Shaniwar Peth area for the fifth time today. We have been assured that such drives will continue regularly,” said Jayesh Pandit, a local resident.
Under Mission Swachh Ward 25, several roads and narrow lanes in the area have been cleaned. At the start of the initiative, dustbins were distributed to facilitate proper waste disposal. According to Mankar, a total of 80 tonnes of garbage has been collected so far through the campaign.
The initiative aims to improve hygiene standards in one of Pune’s busiest and oldest localities, while reinforcing the message that civic cleanliness should remain a priority even during election periods.
