MIT ADT University Achieves a New Milestone of Launching IPR Policy

Pune, 26th October 2020: MIT Art, Design, and Technology University, on the following day of Dussehra, launched its policy for IPR, Research and Consultancy and Research Guide (MAARG) for patents and innovations. These policies will promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. The centers, innovators, and entrepreneurs from MIT ADT University have together appreciably applied their creativity to address social issues. The policies for Intellectual Property Rights, Research and Consultancy, and Research Compendium for MIT ADT University centers were launched at the hands of Dr. Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India; Dr. Kishore Sreenivasan, Head – CSIR URDIP, Govt. of India; Prof. Dr. Vishwanath Karad, Founder, MIT Group of Institutions and Prof. Dr. Mangesh Karad, Vice-Chancellor, MIT ADT University, Pune.

“Culture of innovation and entrepreneurship must be promoted as there is no dearth of grassroots level innovations in the country and efforts must be taken to facilitate their growth”, said Dr. Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer, Ministry of HRD in his address during the launching ceremony.

“Setting up Intellectual Property Centres at the university, setting up innovation labs, setting up entrepreneurship into the curriculum are among the activities prescribed by the UGC. Universities are required to encourage the organization of boot camps, mentoring and investor sessions, and holding entrepreneurship focussed events at colleges where successful entrepreneurs are invited to interact with students. The initiative by MIT ADT will be replicated by other organizations in and around Pune.”, Dr. Kishore Sreenivasan added.

Dr. Vishwanath Karad stated, “MIT Art, Design and Technology University, Pune with its exceptionally qualified and experienced faculty and exceptional infrastructure complemented with resources for curricular and extra-curricular exercises, has kept up a great research atmosphere since its inception.” He emphasized the relationship between science and philosophy and appealed all to raise and project the Indian culture and values with pride at international platforms.

Prof. Dr. Mangesh Karad said that MIT ADT University offers patent and research benefits to researchers and he shared his vision on expanding research initiatives and having dedicated faculty carrying out research-related activities. Patents and research initiatives help universities to improve their rankings, establish an innovation ecosystem, incubate knowledge-based start-ups, and measure research activities more effectively in its most significant push to create an entrepreneurial university. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has now asked all the universities in India to set up Intellectual Property (IP) Centres. MIT ADT University responded to this call and launched these centres of IPR at the university.

The launching ceremony was held online via Zoom and was attended by participants including the Registrar, Directors / Principals, Deans, HoDs, Faculty Members and students and co-ordinated by Prof. Suraj Bhoyar, University Manager. The ceremony was compered by Dr. Atul Patil and Prof. Swapnil Shirsath.
