New Delhi, 19th March 2022: The Indian women’s cricket team has entered the ICC World Cup under the captaincy of captain Mithali Raj with a new vigor. This captain, who took India to the final, has continued her strong game. On Saturday, Mithali made another world record in her name against Australia with a superb half-century.

Australia, which has been so far invincible in the World Cup, won the toss against India on Saturday and elected to bowl first. India returned to the match on the strength of the captain’s innings after the early dismissals of Shefali Verma and Harmanpreet Kaur. Yashtika Bhatia and captain Mithali Raj laid the foundation for the team’s big score by making a simple partnership. Both these batsmen scored half-centuries. Yashtika made 59 off 83 balls while Mithali scored 68 runs off 96 balls.

Mithali Raj’s world record

During the World Cup, Mithali Raj made the figure above 50 for the 12th time. With this score, Mithali became the second batsman to do so the most times in the World Cup. New Zealand’s Debbie Hawkley had earlier crossed the 50-run mark in the World Cup 12 times. Now Mithali has also joined this list. He surpassed England’s Calrett Edward’s record of more than 50 runs in the World Cup 11 times.
