Pimpri-Chinchwad, October 30, 2020: Pimpri-Chinchwad police has appealed to the motorcycle garage owners, number plate makers and the two-wheeler vehicle owners to strictly follow the rules. The modification in two-wheeler parts and making fancy plates is illegal and legal action will be taken against the two-wheeler owner and a garage owner if found doing changes without permission.
Assistant Police Commissioner Shrikant Disle from traffic police informed, “The number plates should be made as per the Motor Vehicle Rules, fancy number plates should be strictly avoided. The vehicle owner should submit vehicle documents and RC book photocopy to the shop where they make the number plate. A separate register should be kept in the shops of number plate makers to keep record of the vehicle’s number plate. A motorcycle garage has no rights to make changes in a two-wheeler without the permission of the Department of Transport, especially changing the bullet silencer with sound.”
According to police, many criminals change the number plates of two-wheelers or make fancy number plates due to which finding the criminals is difficult. So changing the number plate without permission will be considered illegal. Two-wheeler owners making modifications in two-wheelers such as fixing of silencers is violation of rules, these silencers make noise pollution, create discomfort to the citizens and violate the traffic rules.
