Mohammed Shami’s Exceptional World Cup Performance Inspires Plans for Sports Facility in His Village

Amroha, 18th November 2023 – Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami’s outstanding performance in the World Cup 2023 has garnered recognition, prompting plans for a mini stadium and open gym in his village, Sahaspur Alinagar, Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. Shami’s remarkable figures of seven wickets for 57 runs in the semi-final against New Zealand played a crucial role in India’s victory, securing their spot in the final against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Amroha District Magistrate Rajesh Tyagi announced the proposal, stating, “A proposal has been made to construct a mini stadium and open gym in Mohammed Shami’s village Sahaspur Alinagar.”

Initially not part of the playing 11 in the league stage, Shami’s inclusion, following Hardik Pandya’s injury, proved to be pivotal. He emerged as one of the leading wicket-takers in the World Cup 2023.

Rashtriya Lok Dal party leader Jayant Singh expressed support for funding the sports facility in Shami’s village. Mohammed Shami showcased his prowess by troubling left-handed batsmen significantly in the World Cup, taking eight wickets against them while conceding only 32 runs in 52 balls.

Leading with 23 wickets in six matches at an average of 9.13 and a strike rate of 10.91, Shami’s stellar performance in the semi-final, where he took 7 wickets for 57 runs, marked a career-best. As he gears up for the final, fans anticipate another stellar performance from the talented pacer.
