Monsoon 2025: Southwest Monsoon Advances Over Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh; Further Progress Likely Across Northern India

New Delhi, 19th June 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed today that the Southwest Monsoon has further advanced over most parts of Bihar and several parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh as of June 19, 2025. The latest weather map shows significant monsoon progression compared to normal onset dates, signaling active conditions across central and northern India.
Northern Limit of Monsoon as of June 19:
The current Northern Limit of the Southwest Monsoon passes through the following coordinates and cities:
-Barmer, Jodhpur, Jaipur (Rajasthan)
-Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh), Khajuraho, Sonbhadra, Ballia (Uttar Pradesh)
Favourable Conditions for Further Advance:
According to IMD, the atmospheric conditions remain favourable for the continued advance of the monsoon over:
Remaining parts of North Arabian Sea
Additional areas of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh
Some parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad
This further advance is expected over the next 2–3 days.
Moreover, the monsoon is likely to make additional progress into Punjab and Haryana shortly after.
