Pune, 8th June 2023: The long-awaited monsoon winds have finally reached Kerala, bringing relief to the region. The Meteorological Department has officially confirmed this development. Yesterday, on Wednesday, the department had predicted favorable weather conditions in Kerala due to the movement of monsoon winds. Today, on Thursday, Dr. Anupam Kashyapi, head of weather forecasting at IMD Pune, confirmed that the monsoon winds have indeed entered Kerala.

The monsoon winds have not only reached Kerala but have also advanced in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Tamil Nadu, along with most parts of Kerala, has also experienced the arrival of monsoon showers. Initially, the Meteorological Department had anticipated the entry of monsoon winds into Kerala on June 4. However, unfavorable conditions in the Arabian Sea and the influence of Cyclone Biparjoy resulted in a delayed arrival.

With the monsoon winds making their way into Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the Bay of Bengal branch of the monsoon winds has also reached the northeast, bringing showers of happiness to Mizoram.

According to the Meteorological Department, the favorable conditions for the movement of monsoon winds will soon lead to their coverage of Tamil Nadu. In the next 48 hours, the monsoon winds are expected to reach Karnataka, West Bengal, and the northeastern states. This progression will bring much-needed respite from the scorching heat and usher in the monsoon season in these regions.
