Moshi, 9th November 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee has granted administrative approval for the proposed 850-bed multispecialty hospital in Moshi, a significant healthcare project catering to the needs of approximately 30 Lakh residents in the cities of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Presently, the PCMC operates Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCM Hospital) and seven smaller hospitals within the city.

The recently expanded Sassoon General Hospital in Pune now boasts 1,290 beds, making it the district’s largest hospital. Consequently, the forthcoming hospital in Moshi will become the second-largest medical facility in the district.

Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital, located in Pimpri-Chinchwad, serves patients from rural districts and has been under increasing pressure due to a growing population. In response, MLA Mahesh Landge has called upon the state government and municipal administration to establish a multispecialty hospital in Moshi, a village within the Bhosari assembly constituency.

Upon state government approval, the municipal administration has awarded 340 crore 67 lakhs 63 thousand 273 tenders to Vascon Engineers Limited for the hospital’s construction. The proposal, put forth by the Building Department to the Standing Committee, has received the green light from Administrator and Commissioner Shekhar Singh. Among several participating companies, Vascon Engineers Limited secured the contract with the lowest bid. The hospital’s construction will occur in two phases within the Gairaan area of Group No. 646 in Moshi.

The eight-floor hospital building in Moshi will house various departments, including Out Patient Department (OPD), General Medicine, Ear Nose Throat clinic (ENT), Ophthalmology, Computed Tomography Scan (CT Scan) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) facilities, Radiology, Day Care, Sonography, Pediatric, Psychiatric, Dermatology, Gynecology, and Respiratory Diseases. Additionally, there will be surgery facilities, burn units, cancer treatment, dialysis, pathology services, a blood bank, a 180-seat canteen, operation theatres, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) units, general medicine and eye patient wards. The fifth floor will accommodate the General Surgery and Ear-Nose-Throat Ward.

BJP MLA Mahesh Landge said, “We had decided to empower the health system in the city under the ‘Vision-2020’ campaign. Accordingly, we followed up with the state government and municipal administration. During the Mahavikas Aghadi rule, the project was stalled due to a lack of administrative will. However, the project was accelerated during the grand coalition government. The 850-bed hospital to be built in Moshi will be known as the health channel of the district. It is expected that the administration should start the work by doing the following process.”

The municipal administration is also considering the establishment of a Pimpri-Chinchwad Medical College, a Paramedical Courses College, and a general college due to the availability of Pediatric, Osteopathy, Gynaecology, Dermatology, Mental Ward, a 250-capacity lecture hall, and ample space at this location.
