Pune’s SaiShree has a 34-year-old mother delivering a twin with the help of In-vitro-Fertilization (IVF). She was suffering from failure of the Pituitary Gland due to some infection at the age of 22 years. This had resulted in her not being able to conceive after marriage. However, doctors at SaiShree Hospital have succeeded in ensuring that she could deliver through IVF.

She suffers from a rare disease called Hypopituitarism. Hypopituitarism leads to the pituitary gland not being able to produce hormones or does not create enough hormones. The pituitary gland is a tiny organ found at the base of the brain. It produces many hormones that travel throughout the body, directing certain processes or stimulating other glands to produce other hormones. Failure of this process is known Hypopituitarism. This may result in weakness of muscles, excretion of hot vapors through the body and women have either reduced menstruation or no menstruation at all this leading to her not being able to conceive.

Pune’s Mrs. Geeta Kadam( Name Changed) had to face several such problems due to Hypopituitarism. Two previous efforts towards helping her conceive with the help of IVF had failed. Finally, she was admitted for treatment under Dr. Girish Pote at the Aundh IVF center of SaiShree hospital.

Dr. Girish Pote, the IVF expert at SaiShree hospital said, “Hypopituitarism rules out the natural possibility of a woman having babies. IVF is the only option that can be tried in such a situation. With potential danger to patient’s life IVF turns out to be challenge for doctors too. A strong desire of the patient has resulted in the birth of healthy twins and the mother too is alright now.”

IVF experts Dr. Girsh Pote and Dr. Yashwant Mane have been able to achieve success in this case after nine month of restless efforts.

The mother opined, “Very first effort at SaiShree hospital has borne fruits and the twins have brought loads of happiness to our family.”
