Pune, 8th April 2025: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) MP Supriya Sule will begin a hunger strike at 10 am on April 9 at the Pune District Collector’s Office to protest the neglected condition of the road from Baneshwar Phata to the Forest Department’s arch in Shri Kshetra Baneshwar, Bhor taluka. She announced her decision on social media, urging the administration to take immediate action.

Sule had earlier threatened to launch a hunger strike on March 4 over the same issue. However, she postponed the protest after Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Commissioner Yogesh Mhase assured her on March 3 that the road would be repaired within a week.

Despite repeated follow-ups, no work has commenced on the road. Local residents of Nasrapur and surrounding villages, along with the Baneshwar Mahadev Temple Trust, have also raised concerns with the MP. Sule had formally appealed to the authorities ahead of Mahashivratri, but said she received no response.

During her visit to Baneshwar Temple on Mahashivratri, she observed the road was still in disrepair. PMRDA officials once again assured her of action, stating the road would be fixed within two weeks and a development plan for Baneshwar would be implemented within six months.
With no visible progress and growing frustration among locals, Sule has decided to proceed with the hunger strike.

Supriya Sule’s Statement on X:
“The road from Baneshwar Phata to the Forest Department’s arch in Shri Kshetra Baneshwar, Bhor taluka, is in terrible condition. I’ve been consistently following up for its concretization, but all I’ve received from the administration are delays and excuses.

I had initially announced a hunger strike on March 4, but postponed it after the PMRDA Commissioner promised road repairs within a week. That deadline has long passed, and still, no work has begun. I have even informed the Chief Minister. This road is crucial for devotees and local residents, yet the government continues to ignore the issue.
