MPSC Aspirants Protest in Pune Over Exam Delay, Reservation Row
Pune, 16th April 2025: Hundreds of Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) aspirants staged a protest at the Pune District Collector’s office on Tuesday, demanding a 45-day postponement of the State Services Main Examination and an increase in vacancies for the posts of PSI, STI, ASO, and SR in the combined recruitment process.
The protest drew a significant turnout, with students expressing frustration over alleged irregularities in exam results and confusion surrounding reservation quotas. The demonstrators claimed the selection process lacked transparency and fairness.
One of the aspirants alleged that the results of the preliminary exam, declared on March 12, included Maratha candidates under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota, despite their eligibility under the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) category. This, students said, resulted in the exclusion of genuine EWS candidates from the main examination.
“We are demanding a 45-day postponement of the main exam and a higher number of posts in the combined recruitment. The process has been unfair, and we want the state government to intervene,” said a protesting student.
The students urged the government to address the reservation discrepancies and ensure equal opportunities for all eligible candidates.
