“MSEDCL’s financial situation has deteriorated due to increasing arrears due to non-payment of bills despite repeated appeals and requests. At present, under Pune Circle including Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad with rural areas of Haveli, Khed, Maval, Junnar, Ambegaon, Mulshi, and Velhe taluka, a total of 7,37,360 domestic customers have arrears of Rs 15.74 crore, for commercial use 1,00,802 customers have arrears of Rs 53.83 crore and for the industrial use 16,467 customers have arrears of Rs 25.29 crore”, MSEDCL stated in a press release.

“Independent teams are scrutinizing the power connections after the power supply was cut off due to arrears in the campaign. Also, a special investigation is being carried out in the evening for the same case. In both cases, criminal action is being taken under section 135/138 of the Indian Electricity Act, 2003 against anyone found using electricity from neighbours or other places through wires or cables”, MSEDCL further stated.

Also, action is being taken to disconnect the power supply as per the rules, irrespective of the outstanding bill amount of the customers. Therefore, MSEDCL has appealed to cooperate by paying the arrears and current electricity bills regularly through mahadis.com website or the mobile app.
