Pune, 17th April 2024: The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has undertaken an ambitious ring road project to address traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities. The project aims to create a circular road, and it is being constructed in nine phases. This includes land acquisition and the appointment of companies to carry out the actual work.

Foreign companies from countries such as the United States, Singapore, and China have shown interest in the project. As a result, the tender process for the project has been extended multiple times to accommodate their participation and provide additional time for submissions.

Initially, the deadline for tender submissions was set for January 17, but it was extended to March 1 due to a lack of responses. The deadline was then further extended to March 26 and later to April 16. Despite these extensions, the MSRDC has decided to extend the deadline once more to April 26 to allow additional time for foreign companies to submit tenders, as per their requests.

The land acquisition process for the ring road is being carried out in two phases: East and West. Ninety % of the land acquisition for the western route has been completed, while the land acquisition for the eastern route has been put on hold due to the implementation of the code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections.

MSRDC aims to allocate the project work to three companies per phase. By extending the tender deadline, the MSRDC hopes to attract a diverse pool of companies capable of delivering the project efficiently.
