Mumbai: Shiv Sena Workers Beat Up Retired Navy Officer For Sharing Cartoon On WhatsApp

Mumbai, September 12, 2020: A 65-year-old former Naval officer Madan Sharma was allegedly thrashed by Shiv Sena activists for forwarding a cartoon on social media about Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Now Mumbai Police has arrested five people including Kamlesh Kadam of Shiv Sena among those who attacked the officer.

Dr Sheela Sharma, daughter of the former Navy officer, said, “He received threatening calls after forwarding the message and then many Shiv Sena activists beat him up badly.”

Atul Bhatkhalkar, MLA from Kandivali East shared a video of this incident on Twitter, in which an elderly retired officer can be seen being beaten up by alleged Shiv Sena activists.

BJP leader and former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has targeted the Uddhav Thackeray by tweeting about the attack on the former navy officer. “Extremely sad & shocking incident. Retired Naval Officer got beaten up by goons because of just a whatsapp forward. Pls stop this GundaRaj Hon Uddhav Thackeray ji. We demand strong action and punishment to these goons”, Fadnavis said.
