Mumbai, 25th April 2022: The Maharashtra government suspects that someone instigated the Rana couple to recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s residence. It is reported that the state government is also going to start an investigation in this matter.
MP Navneet Rana and her husband MLA Ravi Rana have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days by a Mumbai court. Both the leaders were arrested by the Mumbai Police on Saturday.
According to a Times of India report, the Maharashtra government will launch a probe to find out the ‘elements’ that allegedly instigated the Rana couple to recite Hanuman Chalisa outside the CM’s residence.
Speaking to reporters in Nashik on Sunday, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil said the police would investigate the matter and find out who was behind the plan of the two.
“We will demand the call details of the MP and MLA. They cannot make such a daring effort when no one is after them…”
Both Pawar and Patil have defended the police action against the Rana couple.
The Deputy Chief Minister said, “When the police ask not to go to a place due to security reasons, we avoid it. Ranas did not heed the advice and now the action is being taken.”
During this, Pawar and Patil also condemned the attack on Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kirit Somaiya. But he said that it was not right for the BJP leader to go to the Khar police station and meet the arrested couple.
Patil said, “As per the law, only lawyers and relatives can meet those who are in custody. Somaiya should not have gone there to add fuel to the fire.”
He also raised questions on the Z category security given by the Center to some people. The state home minister said, “Who are these people and what revolutionary work are these people doing to get so much security? These questions should have been raised.”
BJP leaders will meet the Union Home Secretary
A Mumbai BJP delegation is on its way to meet Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla after the alleged attack on Somaiya outside Khar police station. This delegation will include Somaiya, Mihir Kotecha, Sunil Rane and other leaders. Somaiya had claimed that he was hurt in the alleged stone-pelting by Shiv Sena workers on Saturday.
