Pune, 5th November 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Pune MP and Union Minister of State Muralidhar Mohol as the Election Chief (District In-charge) for the upcoming municipal elections, while senior leader and former House Leader Ganesh Bidkar has been named the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Election Chief.
The announcement was made today by BJP State President Ravindra Chavan. Under the new appointments, Bidkar will oversee the city election strategy under the leadership of Mohol, who will serve as the district-level in-charge for the polls.
Mohol, who has earlier served as Pune Mayor and Standing Committee Chairman, brings extensive administrative and political experience to his new role. Bidkar, too, has held multiple key positions in the civic body, including Corporator, Group Leader, Standing Committee Chairman, and House Leader.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohol said, “The NDA government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and the Mahayuti government led by Devendra Fadnavis in Maharashtra have been driving development-oriented policies with remarkable speed and efficiency. I am confident that voters will once again place their trust in the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Mahayuti alliance in the upcoming local body elections. I thank the party leadership for giving me this opportunity.”

Echoing his confidence, Bidkar stated, “The political environment is favorable for BJP and Mahayuti in the state. During our tenure in the Pune Municipal Corporation from 2017 to 2022, we undertook significant development initiatives for the city. I am certain Punekars will continue to support BJP and Mahayuti this year as well. I thank Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, State President Ravindra Chavan, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakantdada Patil, and Union Minister of State Muralidhar Mohol for entrusting me with this responsibility once again. Just like in 2017, we will ensure BJP and Mahayuti come to power this time too.”
The appointments mark the BJP’s first major organizational move ahead of the anticipated municipal elections in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, and across the district.
