Murder For Gold: Elderly Woman Found Dead At House, Police Suspect Murder By Thief To Steal Gold
Pune 7th August 2023: An 85-year-old woman living alone in her house in Pimpri was found dead on July 31. The relatives reported her gold jewelry and mobile phone missing after which the police suspected it to be a case of murder by a thief. The police have launched a probe in the matter.
According to reports, the woman identified as Shalubai Salve (85) who was retired as a conservancy staffer from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation was living alone in her house near Pimpri Railway Station. She was last seen on July 30 night by her neighbours. However, when they found something suspicious on the next day since she did not come out of her house for a long time, they informed her relative who then reached the spot and the door was opened.
Salve was found lying unconscious on the floor and she was declared dead by the doctors. Initial probe based on the postmortem report suggested head injury as cause of death. However, her granddaughter reported to the police that around 40 gram of gold and her mobile phone was also missing after which the police lodged an FIR against an unknown person and they have launched a probe into murder angle. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
