Murder in Pimpri-Chinchwad: Three Arrested for Killing Man Over Money for Alcohol

Chikhali, 4th February 2025: Three men have been arrested for the murder of a 33-year-old man in Patil Nagar, Chikhali, which came to light on Sunday morning (2nd February). The Crime Branch Unit One of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police solved the case within hours of the body’s discovery.

The victim has been identified as Bhaiyya Gaman Rathod, originally from Jalgaon, who had moved to Chikhali for work three months ago. The arrested suspects are Suraj Hanumant Ingale (29), Mehul Kailas Gaikwad (28), and Ajay Ashok Kamble (24), all residents of Patil Nagar, Chikhali.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode, the body was found in a Maharashtra Forest Department area in Patil Nagar. The Crime Branch Unit One conducted a parallel investigation, reviewing 50 to 60 CCTV cameras in the vicinity to identify the suspects. The accused were apprehended from Chikhali and confessed to killing Rathod to rob him of money for alcohol.

One of the accused, Ajay Kamble, has a criminal record, with cases registered against him in Chikhali, Pimpri, and Mahalunge MIDC Police Stations.

The successful operation was carried out under the guidance of senior police officials, including Pimpri-Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner Shashikant Mahavarkar, and Additional Commissioner Vasant Pardeshi. The investigating team, led by Senior Police Inspector Suhas Awhad, included various officers and constables from the Crime Branch Unit One.
