Musical feast for Punekars as 16th Vasantotsav to take place from January 20-22

Pune, December 27, 2022: Punit Balan Group presents and Dr Vasantrao Deshpande Prathishthan and MIT World Peace University’s School of Liberal Arts organized 16th Vasantotsav, will be held between January 20th and January 22nd, announced Dr Vasantrao Deshpande’s grandson and national-award winning vocalist Rahul Deshpande at a press conference on Tuesday.

‘Vasantotsav’ organising committee members Bapu Deshpande, Neha Deshpande and Rajas Upadhye were present for the press conference.

This is the 16th consecutive year of the musical festival. The festival will be held at Suryakant Kakade Farms, opposite Pethkar Samrajya, Mhatoba Dara in Kothrud from 5 PM to 10 PM, said Rahul Deshpande. The upcoming musical festival is also supported by P N Gadgil and Sons, Suhana Masale, Magarpatta City,Petrochem, Lokmanya Multipurpose Co-Operative Society Limited and Gokhale Constructions.

We are presenting different types of music including classical music, music by percussion instruments, light music, Ghazals and live band during the 16th Vasantotsav, informed Rahul Deshpande.

On Friday, January 20, in the first session, there will be a performance of well-known classical vocalist Kaushiki Chakraborty, daughter of vocalist Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty, who belongs to the Patiala Gharana. It will be followed by performance of classical vocalist Rahul Deshpande. The first day will conclude with a joint performance by Kaushiki Chakraborty and Rahul Deshpande. This is the first-time that both these artists are performing together and that is the feature of the musical festival.

In the first session on Saturday, the music lovers will be able to listen to a well-known contemporary Indian folk music band – The Raghu Dixit Project. Raghu Dixit himself along with his co-artists will perform.

It will be followed by solo Ghazal recitals by singers Prathibha Singh Baghel and Prithvi Gandharva. Both the singers have sung for several Bollywood movies and are well-known among the music aficionados. While Prathiba has sung for Bollywood movies including ‘Bollywood Diaries’, ‘Shorgul’, ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’, ‘Zid’, and ‘Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi’, 32-year-old Prithvi has sung ‘Albela Sajan’ song from the movie ‘Bajirao Mastani’. He has conducted over 800 shows of Urdu Shayari, Ghazals and songs, across the globe. The second day will conclude by Ghazal co-singing by Pratibha and Prithvi.

The third day will start with a performance by noted play-back singer Madhushri Bhattacharya, who has sung several songs composed by A R Rahman. She has rendered her voice for movies like ‘Baahubali – The Beginning’, ‘Raanjhanna’, ‘Guru’, ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Paheli’, ‘Yuva’, ‘Swades’. It will be followed by a program ‘Music and More’ by music composer and director Vishal Bharadwaj. The 16th Vasantotsav will conclude with a performance of Rahul Deshpande, who will present ‘Natya Sangeet’.

The tickets for 16th Vasantotsav will be available from January 1st on ‘BookMyShow’ website and the season tickets will be priced at Rs 1,800, Rs 1,200 and Rs 500. The tickets will be available soon at Yashwantrao Chavan auditorium in Kothrud and Balgandhava Rangmandir.
