Pune: Children’s Orphanage In Camp Catches Fire, No Casualties

Camp, 27th December 2022: A fire broke out on the ground floor of the four-storied building of Tayyabia Orphanage on East Street in Camp, Pune. The incident took place around 1 am today.

After getting information, the fire brigade team reached the spot and immediately moved nearly 100 children (aged six to 16 years) from the building to a safe place away from the fire and smoke. They also brought the fire under control within 10 minutes, avoiding any major disaster.

Grain and some other materials stored on the ground floor of the building were damaged in this fire. The fire was moderate and believed to be caused by an electrical short circuit.

The brigade team consisted of fire officer Pradeep Khedekar of Pune fire brigade, driver Atul Mohite, Tandel – Chandrakant Gawde and jawan Azim Shaikh, Gaurav Kamble and Tandel – Asif Sheikh of Pune Cantonment fire brigade, driver Omkar Sasane and jawan Pramod Chavan, Kundalit Gaikwad, Sachin Bhagat, Nikhil Jagtap, and Pankaj Rasal.
