Chennai , 29th April 2026: A major political surprise has been projected in Tamil Nadu, with the My Axis India exit poll predicting actor Vijay’s party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in a strong position in the state assembly elections.

According to the poll, Vijay’s party is expected to win between 98 and 120 seats in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly, placing it in strong contention to form the government. The ruling DMK has been projected to secure 92 to 110 seats, while AIADMK is estimated to win between 22 and 32 seats.

If the projections hold true and TVK forms the government, it would mark a historic political debut for actor Vijay, whose party is contesting its first major state election.

However, other exit polls have shown a different picture. The CNN-News18 survey has projected AIADMK as the frontrunner with around 119 seats, while DMK is expected to get 108 seats. The same poll estimates TVK may open its account with seven seats.

Meanwhile, the Matrize exit poll has predicted 10 to 12 seats for TVK, while giving DMK 122 to 132 seats and AIADMK 87 to 100 seats.

The People’s Insight poll has estimated a stronger performance for Vijay’s party, projecting 30 to 40 seats, while People’s Plus has predicted 18 to 24 seats for TVK.

With varying forecasts from different agencies, all eyes are now on the official counting day to see whether Vijay’s political entry translates into a landmark victory or a modest debut.
