Pune, 19th June 2025: In a vibrant effort to blend tradition with digital civic engagement, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched a cultural photo contest titled “My Wari” on its official digital platform, PMC Care. The contest began today and will run until July 7, 2025, aiming to encourage citizens—especially the youth—to engage with and celebrate Maharashtra’s revered Wari tradition.

Under the inspiring theme “दारी नुसती पाहणाऱ्यांची नाही – आता सहभागी होऊया!” (“Don’t just be a viewer of the Wari – become a participant!”), the initiative invites children and teenagers to creatively participate by embodying the spirit of Warkaris—not just as observers, but as active cultural contributors.

Objective: Promoting Cultural Engagement Through Creativity
The primary goal of the Majhi Wari photo contest is to deepen cultural awareness among Pune’s citizens by encouraging them to dress as Warkaris or saints and share photographs via the PMC Care platform. The campaign also seeks to raise awareness about the spiritual and cultural importance of the Wari Yatra, instilling pride in Maharashtra’s centuries-old tradition.

How to Participate
Participation is entirely online and user-friendly. Here’s how to take part:
Scan the QR code available on PMC posters or digital platforms to access the PMC Care app.
Download the app if not already installed.

Fill out the registration form and upload a photo of yourself or your child dressed as a Warkari or saint.

Eligibility and Age Groups
The contest is open to children and teenagers, grouped into the following age categories:
1 to 5 years

Exciting prizes await winners from each group. Through this initiative, the PMC hopes to cultivate cultural pride and community participation during the ongoing Ashadhi Wari celebrations.
