Nagpur, 20th June 2026: A Nagpur-based NEET-UG aspirant received a shock after discovering that his revised admit card for the June 21 re-examination had allotted him a test centre in Abu Dhabi in UAE, despite opting for Nagpur as his first-choice city.

The error surfaced barely a day before the examination, leaving the student and his family scrambling for a resolution. The candidate had originally been assigned a centre at Saraswati Vidyalaya in Nagpur for the first NEET-UG examination. However, after the test was rescheduled in the wake of the paper leak controversy, his fresh admit card showed Abu Dhabi Indian School in the UAE as his examination venue.

According to the family, the student had selected Nagpur as his preferred centre, followed by Wardha and Bhandara while filling out the application form.

“We were stunned when we saw the admit card. It is impossible for us to send our child abroad at such short notice. He does not even possess a passport,” said the student’s father, Mohammad Talib.

The family immediately contacted the National Testing Agency (NTA) and registered a complaint. They said agency officials acknowledged the discrepancy and assured them that the matter would be verified and a corrected admit card issued.

The incident has once again raised questions over the NTA’s examination management, which has remained under scrutiny since the NEET paper leak controversy.

Meanwhile, the agency has put in place extensive security arrangements for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled on June 21. According to the NTA, confidential examination material is being transported through GPS-enabled vehicles under police escort, while examination centres have been equipped with CCTV surveillance, Aadhaar-based biometric verification and real-time monitoring systems.

More than two lakh personnel, including city coordinators, observers, centre superintendents, invigilators, district officials and police personnel, have been deployed for the conduct of the examination.

Candidates have been advised to report to their centres between 11 am and 1.30 pm, with entry gates closing at 1.30 pm. The examination will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode from 2 pm to 5.15 pm across 551 cities in India and 14 overseas locations. Over 22.79 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the test.
