BROKE 12 YEAR OLD NATIONAL RECORD

Naib Subedar Arokia Rajiv Asian Games Bronze Medal winner broke 12 Years old records in 400mts by setting the track ablaze during Federation cup on 29 Apr 2016  at New Delhi . Naib Subedar Arokia   Rajiv clocked 45.47 sec against the Old record set by KM Binu with 45.48 sec at Athens Olympics in 2004.

Naib Subedar Arokia Rajiv has shown tremendous  will & skill and has  improved his timing from Asian Games (45.92 Sec) in  Sep 2014 toWorld Military Games (45.57 Sec) in Oct 2015 and finally in Federation Cup in Apr 2016 with 45.47 Sec to register the record on his name.  Rajiv becomes eligible to be named with foursome including legendary Milkha Singh, Paramjit singh and KM Binu who have held the National Record in their names in last 56 yrs of Indian Athletics history.

Arokia Rajiv took the army route to chase his dream and joined MADRAS Regiment as Sepoy as he believed that the organisation nurtures its athletes with great passion and commitment . He has already created  many moments of glory for the army and the nation and he is the most promising  athlete in 400mtr who can still win Rio Olympic Quota by achieving qualification timing 45.40sec in upcoming International events.

Arokia Rajiv and his coach Subedar Major Mohammad Kunhi are grateful to the Athletics Federation of India and Director General of Sports Authority of India  for facilitating training in Turkey on two occasions. The collective emotional support and motivation from Army has been enormous inspirational force.
