Nashik, 26th March 2026: The investigation into self-styled godman Ashok Kharat has intensified, with a Special Investigation Team (SIT) widening its scope to examine properties linked to his immediate family members as part of a suspected illegal wealth case.

Officials said the SIT is now scrutinising assets held by Kharat and five of his relatives, focusing on immovable properties such as land parcels, residential flats, and commercial establishments. The team has sought detailed records from the Inspector General of Registration to trace ownership patterns and financial links.

Investigators indicated that the probe is no longer confined to Nashik and is being expanded across the state to map investments and property holdings associated with the family.

Preliminary findings suggest that Kharat may have accumulated significant wealth through alleged fraudulent activities carried out under the guise of spiritual practices. Authorities have already secured key documents related to property ownership, while additional data from the registration department is expected to provide a clearer assessment of the total assets involved.

Sources said a detailed report outlining the family’s financial and property holdings is likely to be submitted to the SIT in the coming days. Based on the findings, enforcement agencies may initiate action to freeze or seize assets suspected of having been acquired through unlawful means.

The case marks a significant escalation in action against alleged financial exploitation linked to superstition, with authorities tightening their scrutiny of the accused’s financial network.
