National Conference on Advances in Armament Technology at ARDE Pune

Pune – In order to deliberate on emerging trends in armament technology in general and challenges faced by the Armament community in particular, the NCAAT 2018 ( National Conference on Advances in Armament Technology) is being organized from 8th to 9th June 2018. It also befits the Diamond Jubilee year of ARDE and DRDO. An Industrial Exhibition would also be organized during the Conference. The first NCAAT was conducted in 2008.

The key objective of this conference is to provide an open forum for participants to interact and exchange ideas and experiences on latest technologies and future trends for application in Armaments. The discussions would also focus on evolving manufacturing processes and quality assurance philosophies.

The conference topics will cover the advances in conventional armament technology in the specific areas such as Aerodynamics & Structures, In-bore, External & Terminal Ballistics, Warhead & Munition Technologies, Explosives, Propellants & Pyrotechnics, Propulsion Technologies, Safety Arming & Fuzing Technologies, Guidance & Control Technologies, Test & Evaluation, Advance Materials & Manufacturing Techniques, Safety, Quality & Reliability, Modeling & Simulation Non-Lethal Weapons & System Integration.

Pune based laboratories (ARDE, HEMRL, R&DE (E)) will be showcasing their major achievements in the exhibition. Also, Private Industries engaged in development and production of conventional armament system would exhibit their products and technologies at the Industrial Exhibition being arranged during NCAAT 2018.

The conference will be inaugurated on 8th June 18 at 0930 hrs in the Armament Auditorium, ARDE. Dr SK Salwan, Vice Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University Delhi will be the chief guest and Lt Gen PK Srivastava, AVSM, VSM, Director General (Arty) will be the Guest of Honour. Function will be followed by Inauguration of Exhibition and Poster Display.

Around 500 Scientists, Technocrats, Industrialists, Academicians & the users i.e. service personnel from Army, Navy & Air Force will participate in the NCAAT 2018. About 100 technical papers will be presented during the 2 days conference.

Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune was established in 1958 under Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO) and over the years it has emerged as a centre of excellence for Conventional Armaments. ARDE has successfully developed and introduced into service many state-of-the-are weapon systems, continuously aiming for self-reliance in critical defence technologies. Armament technology has undergone major changes in recent times with advancements in materials, control, guidance, automation and manufacturing technologies.
